by Attorney Eric D. PuryearThe state of Iowa has switched from paper filing to electronic filing for virtually all court matters. The system used for electronic filing is called Electronic Document Management System (EDMS). The use of EDMS is generally mandatory.
In preparation for electronic filing, the rules in Chapter 16 were created, which govern all aspects of electronic filing. Generally speaking, Chapter 16 trumps other rules in Iowa that would conflict with a provision in Chapter 16.
